Deep Sleep had a heartbreaking ending, leaving players curious about Kissy Missy’s fate and eagerly awaiting Poppy Playtime Chapter 4.
Chapter 3 of Poppy Playtime was the longest chapter in the series and the most gut-wrenching. After humanizing Smiling Critters for months leading up to Deep Sleep’s release, Mob subjects them to betrayal and a painful fate. Deep Sleep also gave a clear idea of who exactly The Prototype is and why it’s not worth sympathizing with the master of “The Hour of Joy.”
However, many questions are still left unanswered. Like, do Smiling Critters get a redemption arc? What does Prototype look like in Poppy Playtime? All of this will likely be answered in Poppy Playtime Chapter 4.
If Mob dedicates all its time to developing Poppy Playtime Chapter 4, then players could safely expect a release date of mid-2025.
Players should expect to wait for at least a year as the release date for Poppy Playtime Chapter 4 is currently unknown, taking into account the amount of time Deep Sleep took to release.
Here are the release dates of each chapter:
The second chapter, “Fly in a Web,” was released seven months after “A tight squeeze.” However, the third chapter took almost two years, which means the fourth installment could take longer. It’s worth noting that Mob was working on Project Playtime alongside Deep Sleep, which may have contributed to the delay. This time, the developer would likely try to roll out a mobile port of Chapter 3 before commencing development of Chapter 4.
The official development time, as confirmed by the developer, was eight months. This duration was still longer than the development time of Fly in a Web, which makes sense since Deep Sleep takes an hour longer to complete. In any case, the upcoming chapter would be bigger and better, which means even without distractions, Mob would likely take at least a year to complete the next installment.
A 2025 release date makes the most sense after considering all factors.
