Prototype is one of the biggest mysteries in Poppy Playtime. Is he a dead toy or a cultic entity? Here’s what we know about Prototype’s appearance.

Since Poppy Playtime Chapter 1, Prototype or Experiment 1006 has been a mystery. Everything, from his appearance to his motives, is in a grey area, and no one can tell what his true intentions are. While he despises the Playtime Co. employees, his behavior towards other toys has also been questionable. But, most importantly, no one knows how he looks.

Prototype first appeared in Poppy Playtime Chapter 1 through his tapes and voice notes. His threatening and creepy messages to Playtime Co. would make you think he’s not a malicious character, but he has caused harm to many other toys.

No one knows what Prototype looks like, but he’s likely an amalgamation of dead toys in Poppy Playtime, including all the Smiling Critters, Huggy Wuggy, and more.

Prototype made his first proper appearance in Poppy Playtime Chapter 3, or his arm did. So far, the name Prototype is associated with only a bony, skeletal arm with a single human muscle. This muscle suggests that Prototype likely has a jumbled-up body made of different parts from different humans or toys.

The Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 trailer teased an unknown figure made entirely of all the dead toys. It has been presumed that this is Prototype’s true form. His action of dragging away Mommy Long Legs’ dead body in Chapter 2 also affirms this theory.

“He’ll make me part of him,” Mommy Long Legs’ said as her last words before death.

Moreover, Prototype can imitate different voices, suggesting that he could be more than one toy or person, all tied together.

Theoretically, Prototype is trying to keep all the dead toys alive by attaching them to himself since he doesn’t need food to survive. But, his true intentions are still unknown, especially after the villainous role he played in Chapter 3.

Is Prototype the villain?

It’s tough to say, but the mysterious entity has drawn enough toys to their demise to be considered a villain.

In Chapter 3, CatNap seems to have gone insane under the influence of Prototype, harming the smiling critters. Previously, Huggy Wuggy was influenced by Prototype to attack the employees at the Playtime Co. He also triggered the “Hour of Joy,” which led to the death of many toys and employees.
