Players were surprised to find some modern slang like “cheugy” Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Director Clavell, principal at the Naranja/Uva Academy wants to keep up with current times, but he needs help understanding what “cheugy” means.
In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, players are students at the Naranja/Uva Academy. As part of the institution, students attend classes and interact with faculty like Director Clavell.
During one of the interactions with the Academy principal, he will ask what “cheugy” means and players will get three options. The answer you give will determine if your friendship with Director Clavell increases or not. Players still aren’t sure what happens if you end up becoming good friends with him, but it might mean there are some significant updates on the way.
The term “cheugy” was popularized on TikTok, it was usually to describe the opposite of something trendy. It applies primarily to fashion but it can also be used when talking about the usage of slang and online behavior. This term is used mostly by younger people but over time, older generations have adopted the term. Pokemon’s main demographic is young kids, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that they have added “cheugy” to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
In the conversation with Director Clavell, players will have three options:
The correct answer is number two, “being outdated and uncool”. Pick the correct answer and you might get a reward, or not. There are aspects of the game that seem to be up in the air.
Whether you attend Naranja Academy or Uva Academy, based on the version of the game you pick, Director Clavell will appear in both versions.
As for the professor, each version has its own. In Pokemon Scarlet, players will work with Professor Sada who dresses in prehistoric clothes. In Pokemon Violet, players are meeting Professor Turo who wears futuristic gear.
