Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen surprised Finnish Counter-Strike fans earlier this year with his transfer from OG to G2 Esports.

The move was a major shift in Aleksib’s career, with this being the first firmly cemented tier-one team he’s been a part of. G2 is a potential contender to win any CSGO event this year and Aleksib will be playing a key role as in-game leader.

While OG was a solid team, it was never at that level despite high expectations. G2 has many players that can help the team potentially win a major tournament.

Aleksib already started the season with G2 at IEM Katowice 2022 and they reached the finals despite Aleksib only having practiced with the team for a couple of months. This shows strong promise for the future.

IEM Katowice is one of the biggest CSGO tournaments of the year and is the biggest in the spring. The total prize money of the tournament was $1 million dollars, with the winner taking home $400,000. This is a significant payout compared to other CSGO events.

Aleksib’s G2 didn’t take the title, but came in second place which was worth $180,000. This establishes G2 as a team worth considering on sites such as pika-kasinot.com. These casinos also give the fans the possibility to bet and watch their favorite teams throughout the whole CSGO season.

Aleksib gave comments about the tournament on Twitter after the final. He was disappointed about the result, but thankful for his new team.

Aleksib is still looking to get his first big career win, which could very well happen later this year. G2 hasn’t looked as good since then, but the team remains one of the best in CSGO esports.

The biggest event on the horizon is IEM Cologne 2022, which will take place July 5-17. Between now and then are a few other tournaments that G2 will be competing in.

The next one is IEM Dallas, which starts June 3. This event boasts a $250,000 prize pool, with G2 as a confirmed participant. From there, G2 is set to compete in the $425,000 BLAST Premiere Spring Finals on June 15.

These events will go a long way towards figuring out how well Aleksib’s G2 will perform moving forward.
