We may know when Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are coming out
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were officially revealed and while it wasn’t announced, the release date is likely set as well.
Pokemon Presents showed off a number of smaller updates to established Pokemon games. The showcase likely would’ve been blasted by fans if it didn’t close with the massive announcement of gen-nine games alongside a trailer. This was even enough to make players forget about the AWOL announcements of
Pokemon Legends: Arceus downloadable content
and Pokemon Home expansions for Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Though the confirmation of a gen-nine Pokemon game was huge, minimal details were given beyond the starters. This includes no definitive release date for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
However, there’s a definite pattern to Pokemon releases that paints a clear picture about when the games will be coming out.
When are Pokemon Scarlet and Violet coming out?
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will likely be coming out in November 2022. This could be narrowed down even further to mid-November.
The official release date shown in the trailer and
on the website
was simply “coming late 2022” but there’s a pretty definitive pattern to Pokemon releases. The long story short is that every mainline Pokemon game since Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire has come out in November.
Here’s the list:
- Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl (November 19, 2021)
- Pokemon Sword and Shield (November 15, 2019)
- Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee (November 16, 2018)
- Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon (November 17, 2017)
- Pokemon Sun and Moon (November 18, 2016)
- Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (November 21, 2014)
That lines up to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet having a November 2022 release date.
Fans shouldn’t necessarily start requesting PTO for mid-November quite yet. This is a relatively unique year for Pokemon with BDSP being developed by a different studio and Pokemon Legends: Arceus being released in January 2022.
It’s not impossible for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet to come out in October, which was the case with X and Y, or even in December. Either way, Pokemon fans ought to be excited about having another new Pokemon game to experience this year.
