Warzone 2.0

Activision is having a ball in the latter half of 2022 thanks to its Call of Duty franchise. After the blockbuster release of Modern Warfare 2, Warzone 2.0 is now making waves with a record-breaking player count.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 saw a big release, crossing $1 billion worldwide sales through its first ten days. It was a proud moment for the CoD dev team, but 2022 has more in store for Activision. Warzone 2.0 is following in the footsteps of Modern Warfare, becoming popular among shooter fans. It has only been out for five days, but the player count looks incredible.

Call of Duty announced on November 22 that Warzone 2.0 crossed 25 million players within the first five days of release, which is jaw-dropping.

Like any other big title, the first few days of Warzone 2.0’s release could have been smoother. The game had its fair share of hiccups and bugs. Some complained of ghosts shooting them out of nowhere, while others reported lags, crashes, and game freezing. However, it didn’t do much to hinder the proliferating player count.

How many people play Warzone 2.0 in 2022?

Twenty-five million users have already tried out Warzone 2.0, adding another success story to Activision’s book.

Warzone 2.0 was released on November 16 across all regions worldwide, and since then, it has already posted incredible numbers, beating giant shooter titles with its first-day player count. A day after the release, 452,281 people concurrently played Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 on Steam. Five days later, Warzone 2.0 still sits in the third spot on the Steam charts.

This means Warzone 2.0 is in a tiff with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2, which have 1,129,095 and 1,038,848 peak players respectively. While the other two games are tough to dethrone, it’s commendable that Activision’s shooter has climbed to spot number three within five days.
