Tyler1 speaks out about Pokimane’s $5 donation cap on Twitch

T1 streamer Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp had a response to another streamer. And for once, it was to voice his agreement instead of cause drama.

Imane “Pokimane” Anys recently limited her Twitch donations to a $5 maximum. While she didn’t say exactly why, Pokimane has been criticized in the past for accepting donations from male viewers who send large amounts of money despite potentially having financial problems. This has led some people to claim Pokimane “takes advantage” of her male audience, something she has repeatedly denied.

In a recent stream, Tyler1 commented on the noble move, saying that he would also want to do that “$5 max bullshit.” But it was may not have been for the same reason as Pokimane.

Instead, Tyler1 considered capping his donations to avoid giving fake reactions to big Twitch donations.

“I need to do that honestly. I cannot stand fake reacting. I feel like an asshole if I’m not like, ‘Oh my god whoa, that’s crazy!’ when someone gives me $100. But people are too stupid not to do that,” Tyler1 said.

While Tyler1 may not jump up and down and scream when he gets big donations, Tyler1 isn’t as calm about them as he made himself out to be. Tyler1 has had dramatic reactions to donations in the past, including the time someone sent him a donation in Korean.

Tyler1 recently signed to T1, a Korean esports organization, and thought that the Korean donation was from a fan in said country. Instead, it was a North American fan using Google Translate.

“I got so excited. I was like, ‘Wow, a nice Korean fan is watching and is happy for me.’ But it’s fake. You motherfucker!” Tyler1 exclaimed.

Even if Tyler1 limited his donations to $5, that probably wouldn’t end his screaming and trolling. And his desire to cap donations could just be a joke, anyway. It doesn’t seem too likely that Tyler1 would say no to a $100 donation, even if it doesn’t make him squeal for joy every time.

Pokimane, on the other hand, is hoping her fans will use the extra money to “treat themselves” instead.

worked with @streamlabs to create a donation cap of $5 for my channel!

Thank you for supporting me to the point where I consider anything more than that unnecessary. To anyone that was more generous- please support growing channels, charities, and treat yourselves.❤️???? pic.twitter.com/QhrusbDFxD
