Twistzz promises to get WASD tattoo after winning next CSGO major
Team Liquid’s Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken is feeling quite confident about his Counter-Strike: Global Offensive squad.
“When we win the next major I’ll get WASD tattooed across my fingers on my left hand,” Twistzz said on
Twitter.
Many fans noticed that the tweet didn’t say if they won. It said when.
Team Liquid had a disappointing run at the 2019 StarLadder Berlin Major earlier this month. But Twistzz still seems quite hopeful for the team’s future, even after the fifth-place finish after rival Astralis knocked Liquid out of the playoffs.
The placement is an outlier in the North American team’s most recent results. Team Liquid took first place at the Intel Extreme Masters XIV Chicago tournament this past summer, along with ESL One: Cologne, ESL Pro League Season 9, DreamHack Masters Dallas, and Intel Extreme Masters XIV Sydney. With such a dominant run of play in 2019, Twistzz’s tweet doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch.
These wins have helped solidify Team Liquid’s number one spot on HLTV.org’s listing of the
best CSGO teams
in the world. They have 903 points, which is 200 more than second-place team Astralis. These standings are what Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz referenced when he said that Team Liquid was still the best team in the world, even after Astralis
took first
at the Berlin Major.
The next CSGO major
Even though Team Liquid had a disappointing result at the last major, the team has nine months to prepare for the next one.
According to Valve’s recently released major schedule, the first of four announced tournaments will occur in May of 2020. While the exact dates of May 11 to 24 have been revealed, there hasn’t been a location announced just yet. The second major in 2020 will be from November 1 to November 14.
The CSGO major schedule for 2021 will be quite similar, with the first major taking place from May 10 to 23, and then the second major is set for November 1 to 14.
Even though the first of those four events isn’t coming up any time soon, there are many teams who have already qualified for a spot in the major. This includes Team Liquid, along with their rivals Astralis, AVANGAR, NRG Esports, Renegades, Team Vitality, Natus Vincere, and ENCE.
Fans will most likely be holding Twistzz accountable come the 2020 major, hoping Team Liquid won’t only win, but that Twistzz will truly get the keyboard-inspired tattoo that he promised.
