The Pokemon community has been excited about the return of Pokemon cards to McDonalds this month, but some of the cards are already more expensive and desirable than others.
Last year, Pokemon celebrated its 25th anniversary by releasing a small collection of cards available at McDonalds with Happy Meals. The small packs caused chaos in the Pokemon TCG community, with collectors buying hundreds of Happy Meals to get their hands on as many of the cards as possible. This left many casual fans and young children alike without a chance to get the cards at McDonalds, forcing them to buy the cards for hiked up costs online if they really wanted them.
This time around, McDonalds announced that there will be a limit on how many Happy Meals each individual can purchase, aiming to prevent another scalping fiasco. Without the frantic chaos and hype from big-time YouTubers, some fans are wondering if the McDonalds cards are even worth all the buzz.
Here is how much you can expect to get if you pull all of the most expensive Pokemon cards from the special McDonalds collaboration.
Now that it’s been a while, the worth of each Pokemon card has been decided. Most cards in the 15-card collection are not worth much after all. Non-holographic cards are currently selling on eBay and sites like TCGPlayer for $1 or $2.
Some holographic cards carry a bit more of a price tag. Gossifuer, Growlithe, Smeargle, Rowlet, and Victini are in the range of about $4 to $6.
So what’s the most expensive McDonalds Pokemon card? Right now, the holographic Pikachu is unsurprisingly the most valuable card in the small collection. You can expect to get about $10 for this card.
Pokemon cards coming to McDonalds
Pikachu has always been seen as the mascot of the Pokemon franchise. A lot of the most valuable Pikachu cards are from special events or are misprints. One of the most expensive Pikachu cards is the No. Trainer Promo Pikachu cards, of which there are only three in existence. This rare card can set you back up to $200,000.
The most expensive card, however, is the Pikachu Illustrator. At auction, the small collection of Pikachu Illustrator cards left have netted millions of dollars. There are allegedly fewer than 10 such cards left available to find in the world.
