Based on the iconic and award-winning gaming franchise, fans were left uncertain how it would pan out as a television drama.
At the time, HBO gave a release date of 2023 but there was no exact date.

Both were criticized for not being accurate to the games, making them feel like a money grab relying on name recognition. Resident Evil was canceled after one season.
