Pokemon GO

Completing the Pokedex is one of the goals of any Pokémon player. Sometimes, it is only possible with a little help from your friends. Trading in Pokémon Go is a simple process that can be done in four simple steps.

One important fact to keep in mind is that trading in Pokémon Go can only be done if two players are in proximity to each other. That means it can only be done in person between players that are level 10 or above.

Trading Pokémon is easy but not free. The transaction will cost an amount of Stardust depending on the type of trade that players are making. There are Special Trades, which is any trade that involves Pokémon not already in your Pokedex, along with Shiny, Ultra Beasts, legendary, and Pokémon in forms not already in the Pokedex, like Pokémon with a costume.

Special Trades can only be done once every 24 hours and can cost up to 20,000 Stardust. Players with higher friendship levels can make Special Trades for cheaper.

Some Pokémon cannot be traded under no circumstances, these are mythical Pokémon like Mew and Pokémon that were previously traded.

How to trade in Pokémon Go

The first step is to get to the same place as your friend. Go to the Friend List, tap on the friend you wish to trade with, and tap on the Trade button. The option is available for every friend but if the person is not in close proximity, a message will show stating that trades are only possible with friends who are close.

Select the Pokémon to trade and confirm it. The screen will show the amount of Stardust required for the trade and the number of candies each player will receive in the exchange. The amount of candy depends on the distance between where the Pokémon was caught. For example, Pokémon captured in different countries will grant more candies than Pokémon captured in the same city.

Once completed, the new Pokémon will show up on your Pokedex.
