A reveal event for a variety of wholesome games has shown off a slew of all-ages games. Here are some of the standouts for those wanting a nice, chill gaming experience.
Farming sims, collect-a-thons, and dating sims were all on offer during Wholesome Direct 2022. Despite the “direct” billing, these games aren’t just Nintendo exclusives. Here are the best games shown off at the event.
Kaichu
Kaiju are often depicted as city-destroying villains in movies but now these giant monsters are looking for love in Kaichu, a dating sim. Want to see some kaiju take a break from stomping humans and tearing down towers to have a quick makeout session? This is the game for you.

Chicken Journey
Chicken Journey has awesome retro vibes, taking us back to those middle school years where we played flash games in study. Explore vibrant worlds while you play as a chicken in this simple platformer. It’s not meant to be a challenge and is more of a fun side scroller with a unique protagonist.

Do you like Pokemon for the cute creature collecting but are disappointed with the concept of making them fight? Then make sure to check out Ooblets. The game lets you explore a village with creatures in tow, grow a garden, build your own home, and take part in fun festivals and activities on the PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox.

There’s cooking games, and then there’s cooking games where you play as a little bear. Explore a full-sized kitchen as a brigade of tiny bears that have to use innovation to make meals. Use the crew in creative ways to compensate for their lack of size and serve up something delicious.

This colorful and cutesy game has you playing as a cat in a life sim similar to Animal Crossing, with a bigger focus on farming. You can also fish, one of the most beloved activities for RPG players and cats alike.
