Patch 9.22 is coming to the live server with the new TFT Set 2: Rise of the Elements.

Patch 9.22 will change TFT completely, as Set 2 includes new synergies and champions. Check the full TFT Set 2 guide here. The ranked system will be off during Patch 9.22 so players without access to the PBE can get used to Set 2. Players will be able to play ranked in Patch 9.23, scheduled to drop on November 20.

Patch 9.22 makes big changes to TFT

Set 2 is itself is a major change to the game, but there are still other things coming to the live server. The slots in Challenger are to be reduced starting on Patch 9.22. These changes will better account for TFT player populations in different regions.

The number of same champions available in each game will significantly decrease in Patch 9.22, and the stated balance goal of the change being to prevent multiple players from pursue the same composition, as often happened in Set 1 when the players fought for the Knight and Brawler units.

This change means that players will need to be much more aware of which champions their competitors are purchasing. If someone takes multiple copies of a desired champion, it’s unlikely that other players will be able to build and upgrade that same champion.

The Dragons and the Rift Herald will drop additional common boxes that could include gold or new items. But they won’t drop the Curse Blade item, which has been officially removed from the game.

Patch 9.22 will add a new set of Freljord-themed arena skins that are available for purchase in the store. Rise of the Elements also includes a new pass that will stay in the game through the duration of Set 2. The new pass includes rewards like emotes, arena chromas, and little legends eggs.

Rise of the Elements is changing TFT completely, and this new era of the game is more flexible and allows the players to pursue different compositions. Patch 9.22 is a good opportunity to explore Set 2 ahead of the return of the ranked system on November 20.
