Streamer opat04 banned from Twitch, community outraged

Czech streamer Dan “opat04” Legenda has been permanently banned from Twitch, and fans are upset about it.

According to opat04’s fane, the content creator was permabanned after joining a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive lobby he was invited to. Apparently, the player who invited opat04 had an inappropriate Steam profile picture that popped up during opat04’s stream. The blurry image showed a naked woman.

The permaban has the Twitch community enraged. While the image is inappropriate and goes against Twitch’s Terms of Service, opat04’s fans pointed out that the streaming platform recently discussed how “intent matters” when banning streamers. Since this was most likely an accident and out of opat04’s control, the streaming community was shocked that it earned him such an extreme punishment.

In the past, Imane “Pokimane” Anys received a short three-day suspension when porn accidentally popped up during one of her streams, a much lighter punishment for a similar offense. On the other hand, streamer Sebastian “Forsen” Fors was banned for over a month when he unsuspectingly opened a clip from a viewer that showed horse genitalia.

Twitch’s inconsistent banning became the major topic after opat04’s ban. Many fans brought up that some women have shown a lot more suggestive and explicit things, sometimes on purpose, and were only banned for a few days. This includes MissBehavin’s extensive sultry dance in her underwear, which ended with her flashing her entire bottom half on camera. Jenelle “indiefoxx” Dagres had three bans in one month for suggestive and revealing content, but she remains live on the platform.

What happened to opat04?

Some have pointed out that opat04 has been suspended from Twitch seven times, which might explain why he was booted permanently this time around. His fifth ban was following a stream where he got drunk and popped pills, which goes against Twitch’s ToS. Opat04 ended up in the hospital, which was followed by a stay in a psychiatric ward. He profusely apologized for his behavior soon after, stating that he wanted to clean up his act.

Opat04’s sixth ban happened after he showed a baby having its diaper changed during a military documentary that was being aired on television. While his previous bans were a bit more serious, his last two, including the NSFW Steam picture, seemed more innocent.

Opat04’s following has urged him to move to YouTube, condemning Twitch for not following their own “intent matters” mantra. While opat04 has had a number of controversial bans for legitimate reasons, it seems his fans believe he has changed his waysand doesn’t deserve a severe punishment for his last two incidents.
