Starfield reviews become Mostly Negative on Steam

Starfield has been out for a few months now but it has remained in headlines — just not for the right reasons as of late. Gamers are getting more negative about the space RPG every day and it looks like it has finally reflected on Steam.

Starfield is Bethesda’s first new IP in the past 20 years. Fans of Skyrim and Fallout anxiously awaited the release of the open world science fiction game, hoping to explore endless planets and find interesting plots along the way. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype for the majority of gamers.

Why is Starfield a bad game?

When the game was first released, a lot of players enjoyed the ship building, interesting easter eggs, and planet exploration. Some even stood up for Starfield, claiming it’s what they expected from Bethesda and nobody should have hoped for more.

But now, Starfield has dropped from Mixed to Mostly Negative on Steam.

The main reason has basically been players getting increasingly bored with Starfield. A lot of gamers expressed that they started off grinding the game quite heavily when it first arrived but have not touched it since. Many felt it didn’t have enough replay value due to a dull story and underwhelming NPC interactions.

Others noted that the world feels largely empty, especially when compared to other games that came out around the same time like Baldur’s Gate 3. But a few gamers even mentioned older games like Witcher 3, explaining that Bethesda should have stepped it up to compete with the games that have started coming out since Skyrim. Still others even admitted Skyrim was better than Starfield.

A reviewer on Steam wrote: “Starfield is a game that has an excess of nothingness.
An open world RPG that is so overstuffed with meaningless content that the seams are starting to split and the empty calories are spilling out.”
