shroud ranks battle royale games, says Apex legends is best

Michael “shroud” Grzesiek is all about first-person shooters and he’s spent ample time of his gaming career playing battle royales like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. The streamer recently revealed his top picks among the games at the forefront of the genre.

Popular Twitch streamer shroud is known for his insane skills in shooter games and the wisdom he imparts to his fans when it comes to gameplay and mechanics. During a recent stream, shroud finally put the debate of the best battle royale game to rest, crowning Apex Legends as his personal favorite.

shroud’s extensive experience with first-person shooter games adds a ton of weight to his opinion regarding game mechanics. He has given nearly every popular game a whirl, including Fortnite, PUBG, Call of Duty: Warzone, Rainbow Six Siege, and others. His 2,624 streaming hours in PUBG are enough proof that shroud likes games other than Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Valorant.

But despite his many streaming hours in the game, PUBG isn’t shroud’s favorite battle royale.

What is shroud’s favorite battle royale game?

The streamer revealed that Apex Legends takes the cake in the best battle royale category, despite a few problems here and there. Here’s how he ranked the popular games based on his personal experience.

  1. Apex Legends
  2. PUBG
  3. Fortnite
  4. Warzone

He explained that Apex is unique from its competitors but it can be a “tilter” due to poor servers. With mere 609 streaming hours in Apex Legends, it was an unlikely pick. But other games are either too hard for casual fun or are too buggy for shroud’s liking. As for Warzone, the streamer went ahead and called the whole game one big “bug,” putting it at the last spot in his ranking.

“I think I enjoy Fortnite more than Warzone. Is that weird? I don’t know, ’cause it’s unique and hard as fuck,” shroud said.

He conceded that Fortnite is the most competitive game in general but he personally enjoys Respawns’ battle royale the most. Many players were expecting shroud to put PUBG on top since it’s his most-streamed battle royale. His current list shows that he’s over the game as it’s become “old and outdated.”

Despite Apex being his top pick, shroud doesn’t shy away from stating the weaker areas of the game. The streamer has previously complained about bad servers, too much RNG, and weak ability powers in Apex. Respawn’s battle royale has more polished gunplay with its spice of character abilities that are similar to those found in Valorant.

It seems that these days, shroud likes his battle royales and FPS games with characters that have unique abilities.
