ESPN has confirmed that Dignitas completed its starting LCS roster and the team is ready to make announcements.
Back in November it was reported that Dignitas was struggling to secure its roster. The team allegedly spent most of its roster on the controversial $2.3 million guaranteed contract of top laner Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon. Dignitas then proceeded to trade every other member of its 2019 roster.
Dignitas’ recent decision making raised questions about the future of the team and its 2020 roster. The organization signed former Team SoloMid Academy bot laner Johnson “Johnsun” Nguyen for the LCS team. Now, the rest of the team was revealed and it’s not as bad as many expected.
Mid laner Henrik “Froggen” Hansen, jungler Jonathan “Grig” Armao, and support Zaqueri “Aphromoo” Black complete the 2020 Dignitas roster.
Froggen is coming off a year with Golden Guardians where he was the star of the team. Froggen is one of the most consistent mid laners in the LCS and a key signing for Dignitas. Aphromoo is one of the most popular support players in the LCS. Unfortunately, Aphromoo couldn’t make it work in 100 Thieves and he was traded by the team after they decided to promote William “Stunt” Chen from the Academy roster.
Grig may be the biggest question mark in this new wave of signings. The jungler struggled with wrist injuries and was forced to share playing time with Matthew “Akaadian” Higginbotham at Team SoloMid. In the end, neither jungler worked for TSM and the organization decided to start a rookie jungler through the playoffs and the regional gauntlet.
Dignitas earned the love and respect of the fans through the summer while playing as Clutch Gaming. The team went from the last place in the LCS to the World Championship where they had a good performance, though only Huni now remains from that team. There are many expectations around Dignitas as an organization, they must keep up the good work if they want to stay relevant when the regular season starts in 2020.
