Pokemon Scarlet and Violet multiplayer mode details revealed
The initial reviews for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are offering more details about the multiplayer mode.
Among the innovations that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are bringing, is the improved multiplayer mode. The Wild Arena in Pokemon Sword and Shield was just a preamble to the multiplayer mode for the ninth generation.
Will Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have multiplayer?
The multiplayer mode in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will allow up to four players to get together. Players can organize battles, trade Pokemon, participate in raids, and much more. Picnics are open to friends, from the outside it is possible to see other players, but trainers must join if they wish to see the Pokemon.
Connecting with friends will be easier. Players in the Union Circle will get notifications telling them what their friends are up to. Players will get to see their friend’s activities, whether they are in battle or not.
Trainers that wish to connect must exchange Link Codes, the same system that was used in Pokemon Sword and Shield. The Battle Stadium, link trades, and surprise trades will also be part of the multiplayer mode in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Tera Raid Battles will be available for groups. The Terastal Phenomenon is unique to the Paldea region. It makes Pokemon stronger and gives them a crystalized look when a crown-like Tera Jewel appears on their heads.
Unfortunately, the Tera Raid Battles won’t be as dynamic as players expected. The raids continue to be turn-based with not a lot of action happening. The Terastallized Pokemon make the raids trickier. These are stronger Pokemon that could have a Tera type different from their original type. For example, a Fire Pokemon could have a water Tera type. It might not be the action-packed situation that players wished for, but it doesn’t mean these raids should be underestimated. Coordination and strategy are necessary to defeat the Tera Raid Battles.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be released on November 18.
