Pokemon fans love Hisuian Voltorb in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Pokemon fans are loving Voltorb’s new look in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Voltorb is one of the original 151 Pokemon, a “sphere Pokemon” that resembles a Pokeball but packs an electrical punch. Voltorb is getting a new design in Pokemon Legends: Arceus thanks to the new region, Hisui. The Hisuian Voltorb features a wooden body with more rustic colors, matching the older world featured in the open world Pokemon game.

All about Hisuian Voltorb in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

The official Pokemon Legends: Arceus website filled fans in about Voltorb after unveiling the new design. According to the description, Voltorb appears to have “countless seeds” packed within. It will occasionally pop a new seed out of the hole in its head.

“However, no one knows exactly what it’s like inside the Pokemon’s body, because inside the hole it’s pitch-dark,” the website explained. “It’s impossible to see anything even if one peers into the hole.”

While Hisuian Voltorb looks a bit different than the original design of this sassy sphere, it seems that Voltorb’s original personality has carried over into Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Even in the Hisui region, Voltorb likes to shock humans Pokemon alike.

“Even the slightest provocation can set off such a discharge, so in human settlements, Hisuian Voltorb is considered a nuisance,” the site said.

It’s said that people would sometimes plug the hole on Hisuian Voltorb’s head and punt it out of the settlements, although this could just be a tall tale. Despite being seen as a bit frustrating to deal with, Voltorb is described as having a “friendly personality” and “high spirits.” Unfortunately, this often leads to painful encounters.

What Pokemon will have Hisuian variants in Pokemon Legends: Arceus?

Leading up to Pokemon Legends: Arceus’ launch in January of 2022, Pokemon has been revealing some Hisuian variants of poppular Pokemon.

So far this has included Growlithe, Braviary, Zorua, and Zoroark. Zorua and Zoroark’s Hisuian forms change the originally dark-type Pokemon into normal and ghost duel types. This is due to a tragic backstory, with Zorua migrating to the Hisui region after being driven from other lands by humans who shunned them. Many perished, “unable to survive the harsh Hisuian environment,” but their souls linger.

There are also some new Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, including Wydreer, Basculegion, and Kleavor. These Pokemon evolve from existing Pokemon species Stantler, Basculin, and Scyther, respectively.

Pokemon fans are loving the redesigns so far. Voltorb’s Hisuian version has been met with approval, with fans calling the simple design “less angry” and expressing their desire to own a Voltorb for the first time.
