The highly anticipated Persona 5 Royal closed its first week as the second most-sold game in Japan.

Fans of the Persona series have been waiting impatiently for Persona 5 Royal, the enhanced version of the game. The game, originally released in 2019 for PlayStation 4, became available for PC, Xbox, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.

On its first week in the market, Persona 5 Royal became an instant success with over 45,000 physical copies sold in Japan. The game closes the first week as the second most-sold game in Japan, surpassed only by Splatoon3. In the United Kingdom, Persona 5 Royal is sixth in the charts, surpassing Splatoon 3 which is in seventh.

According to several sources, a broad majority of sales come from Nintendo Switch users, making it the most popular console among Persona 5 Royal players.

The success of the game is not at all surprising. Persona 5 is considered one of the best games in history and Persona 5 Royal only doubles down on the details that made the original title such a success. The enhanced version includes new cut scenes, and battles, and improves the visual aspects of the game. The general consensus is that Persona 5 Royal is worth the wait. On Metacritic, Persona 5 Royal has a score of 97 and on Google rating, it has 4.9 stars out of five.

Is Persona 5 Royal the full game?

Persona 5 Royal is the expanded version of the game. This version includes new characters and mechanics. It also improves aspects like the combat system and the visual appearance of the game. The game now has new difficulty modes, players can choose between the safe option and the merciless one, with three other levels in between.

In general, Persona 5 Royal adds up to an already successful title, making the experience more fulfilling.
