NRG Esports players fly in a wild play during game at CS Summit 4

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive pros have made it pretty clear that they hate Vertigo, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t come up with some cool new tricks for it.

During CS_Summit 4, NRG Esports showed that off in brilliant fashion by essentially demonstrating how to fly on the map. Check out the clip here, from the team’s group stage match against Team Liquid:

Starting off in the area above the T-side spawn, Tarik “tarik” Celik and Ethan “Ethan” Arnold perform a standard run boost. But instead of allowing him to simply cross a guarded choke point, it sends him flying off the edge of the building. Tarik surfs his way back onto solid ground, landing under the stairwell towards the B site. There he finds an unsuspecting Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski, killing him before he even gets a chance to respond.

NRG would still lose the round and went on to lose the map, but the event was still largely a success for the organization.

NRG Esports at CS_Summit 4 and Beyond

NRG Esports has long looked like a top CS:GO team. The organization’s coming out party was supposed to arrive in February at the IEM Katowice Major, but that was ruined when the team went 0-3 in the New Legends Stage. That prompted a roster shakeup that resulted in the removal of Jacob “FugLy” Medina and the addition of Tarik.

NRG has looked solid since, taking top-four finishes at both StarSeries & i-League Season 7 and Intel Extreme Masters XIV Sydney. That trend continued at CS_Summit 4.

The team performed reasonably in the group stage, taking a 2-2-1 record with shutouts of Ghost Gaming and Renegades. NRG Esports split its first series with Team Liquid, but it seemingly ran out of luck in their playoffs rematch. Liquid took a convincing 16-8 win on Mirage and was similarly dominant on Overpass. That sealed up the 2-0 win and knocked NRG out of the tournament.

It wasn’t an ideal way to end the event, but the squad looked the part of a top CS:GO team along the way. NRG Esports will make a quick turnaround and will look to exact revenge against Liquid at DreamHack Masters Dallas 2019.
