The streaming community has accused Nick “NICKMERCS” Kolcheff of being carried in the past. But the battle royal content creator made it clear this time around that he made it to Apex Predator rank in Apex Legends on his own merits.
NICKMERCS is one of many streamers to switch to Apex Legends as Call of Duty: Warzone continues to be riddled with cheaters. As more content creators switch to Apex Legends, the battle royale has become one of the most popular in the genre for viewers on Twitch. One of the most popular streamers to take on Apex Legends ranked is NICKMERCS.
NICKMERCS started grinding hard in Season 10, almost reaching the top rank. He had a 9,778 RP out of the possible 10,000. In Season 11, NICKMERCS continued his climb to the top, this time finally becoming an Apex Predator. On Twitter, NICKMERCS celebrated the accomplishment, noting that he had made it with help from “the lads.”
Was NICKMERCS carried to Apex Predator in Apex Legends?
Apex Legends is a team-based game, with trios and duos strategizing together to be the last group standing. But sometimes there are some players who seem weak compared to the others, who may only survive due to the actions of their teammates.
But NICKMERCS made it clear that this wasn’t the case for him. In his tweet celebrating the victory, the streamer emphatically said that the top rank was “earned.” While he was playing with skilled teammates in Turner “Tfue” Tenney and Tom “72hrs” Mulligan, NICKMERCS made sure to let fans know that he was just as talented as was the rest of his squad.
This is a sensitive subject for NICKMERCS, who has been accused of being carried in the past. In September, NICKMERCS was called out by followers for being carried up the ranks. Many doubted his Apex Legends skills since he had come from playing Call of Duty: Warzone.
NICKMERCS then got into a beef with teammate Jack “CouRage” Dunlop after he jokingly noted that CouRage reached Apex Predator by playing with former pro players, most likely to get fans off of his own back.
