NHL 23 is full of game-breaking bugs and glitches

One month after its release, the reviews for NHL 23 went from five stars to one star. The cause? The ever-growing list of bugs and glitches in the popular hockey game.

Some fans are calling NHL 23 a “terrible money grab” one month after its release. Early on, it became clear that EA Sports did not add enough to NHL 23 to differentiate it from NHL 22. If anything, the newest installment in the franchise is slightly worse than its predecessor.

NHL 23 improved in terms of visuals and sounds but the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired and players are openly frustrated about the current state of the game.

Passes not working, camera angles not working, long queue times, and content delays are some of the bugs and glitches in NHL 23. Players have also reported bots that commit unprovoked penalties and visual glitches that make playing the game impossible. Black screens are a common occurrence.

The most recent patch went live on November 7. It addressed some of the complaints but it also broke the game further. With every patch, the community grows more frustrated but EA Sports NHL seems to be focused on the visual aspect of the game. The developers are not responding to any of the comments from players.

There is also no information about crossplay, the one feature that was supposed to make NHL worth it. The original announcement said that crossplay was coming in November but 12 days into the month, there has been no news about it. On Reddit, players have mentioned that not getting crossplay could be considered false advertisement and grounds for a class action lawsuit — or at least a refund request.
