Nathan “NBK” Schmitt recently discussed his departure from OG, how he’s working on improving himself, and what the future might bring.

In an interview with French website 1pv.fr, NBK says he learned a lot while playing for OG. He pays extra attention to the human aspect, as he thinks he improved with managing personalities. But things weren’t perfect, and in the past few months his relation with in-game leader Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen shifted. He mostly puts this down to problems with communication.

OG was a special project from the start, as it had three players on the lineup who had previously played as IGL’s. NBK and Aleksib were dedicated shot callers in the past and Valdemar “valde” Bjorn Vangsa periodically led the team when playing for North.

While NBK felt comfortable for a long time with his role in the team, he started to feel like his feedback wasn’t listened to towards the end of his tenure. Dota 2 player Sébastien “Ceb” Debs, who helped the team out in the early days, gets a special mention from NBK, as he thinks his fellow countryman was crucial in growing the team. But five months into the project, Ceb returned to playing Dota.

NBK wants to join forces with kennyS

NBK and kennyS

NBK recently started working with a sports psychologist to improve his performance. He decided to do this right before being benched and feels like it will help him in the future. He started playing with DBL Poney after being benched. This ragtag team of French players, who are either free agents or benched on their former teams, has been playing in a couple of qualifiers.

A return to the French scene is among the possibilities for NBK. A switch to Valorant is not, as he thinks it’s still too soon for him to enter the game. He wants to keep competing in CSGO but realizes that it might take a while for him to find the right project.

In an ideal world, he wants to join forces with Kenny “kennyS” Schrub. The two players have previously played on the same roster and were both recently dropped from their teams. NBK expressed his interest in being the captain of a lineup with kennyS on it, as he wants to help return the AWPer to his best form.

But most importantly, NBK wants to redeem his reputation. He feels that the fans think he is a player who causes problems for a team. While he sticks by his actions and says he’s always done what was needed to improve a squad, he wants to be remembered more positively by the fans before he retires.
