n0thing teases return of shroud and the classic Cloud9 lineup
Veteran player Jordan “n0thing” Gilbert has teased the comeback of Cloud9’s legendary 2015 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster during a recent stream.
After one of his viewers said in the chat they would like to see the old Cloud9 roster come back, n0thing
shared
that the players have already established a WhatsApp group together and are looking to compete again soon, likely at one of the upcoming online tournaments.
Besides n0thing, the roster at hand includes Sean “seangares” Gares, Michael “shroud” Grzesiek, Ryan “freakazoid” Abadir, and Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham, all of whom have since moved on. Most of these players have retired from active competition or haven’t been competing at the top as they once did. seangares has continued his CSGO career as an analyst, while shroud and Skadoodle have become full-time streamers.
As n0thing said, he and the rest of the crew aren’t sure yet when the fans will be able to see them play together again, but it might be pretty soon. The only thing stopping them is aligning all of their schedules so that they could do link up, and it’s likely that most tournament organizers would be quick to welcome them in.
When Cloud9 originally featured this roster, they were the best team in North America. The team took the top spot in domestic competitions and proved a threat internationally as well. The roster built themselves a legacy both through their results and through their popularity with fans.
Fans have shared their excitement about the news, saying they are more than excited to see the team play together again regardless of their current skill level. The tournament they choose to play in together will surely attract many viewers, even those that haven’t been actively following pro CSGO in the time since the team’s departure.
n0thing is currently a member of Old Guys Club, a North American team formed by retired players and with the purpose of having fun rather than winning titles. The roster of former Cloud9 members is now looking set to play with the same goal in mind.
