My Hero Academia has a movie coming to the big screen in the US, announced at the Anime Expo. Here is everything we know so far.

In the midst of My Hero Academy Season 7, fans were treated to even more hype surrounding the iconic anime characters. My Hero Academia: You’re Next is coming to the United States later this year.

My Hero Academia: You’re Next release date

You’re Next is a movie based on the My Hero Academia universe, including its story and characters. It was announced in Japan earlier and will be releasing there in August. But now, we’ve been told that My Hero Academia: You’re Next is also coming to the US.

My Hero Academia: You’re Next is premiering in theaters on October 11. It will most likely be released on limited dates at all major theater chains including Regal and AMC. Other local theaters may have it too but you’ll need to check for ticket sales closer to the fall.

My Hero Academia: You’re Next plot

After the Paranormal Liberation War, Japan is in total chaos. As mysterious fortresses appear around the country, swallowing up cities, Izuku and the rest of Class 1-A must fight against this new, terrifying threat to save Japan and the world.

Fans are pumped about the intense and dark My Hero Academia movie and already predict it will be better than the previous movies based on the anime and manga. Others, however, are a bit skeptical since the timeline seems a bit off. It’s a bit unclear how this movie would fit into the current plot.

Said one confused fan under the trailer: “In terms of continuity, this films a mess. Based on the fact we don’t know Aoyama and that Deku has his Final War look. That means this would have to take place before the Final War, but after Aoyoma’s reveal. I mean technically it could make sense. We don’t know how long they prepared before the war actually started. It was at least maybe a week. But still, it must’ve been a crazy week for them, to go to a world ending threat, to then another one…”

The film will be released in the US with both English subtitles and dubs, meaning you can choose which version of the film you prefer. A lot of fans will likely choose the English subtitles since the original voice actors are more favored in the fanbase. If you prefer this as well, you’ll need to keep an eye on ticket sales to make sure you get in to a sub showtime, especially in a larger city.
