The hyped matchup between G2 Esports and Mousesports turned into one of the best matches of the StarLadder Berlin Major thus far. The match culminated in a fantastic game 3 on Vertigo, which was ultimately won by Mousesports.

G2 struck first with a dominant 16-5 victory on Train. Audric “JaCkz” Jug led the way with a total of 24 kills, complemented by Kenny “kennyS” Schrub’s 11 opening kills.

While G2 obliterated Mousesports on their own map pick, Mousesports returned the favor on Dust2, taking the 16-13 win. Ozgur “woxic” Eker came through in a big way for Mouz, leading the team in kills and scoring a key one-on-two clutch to lock the map up.

The newest version of Vertigo was the place for the deciding showdown. The map received a significant overhaul following the completion of the Minor Championships and this was among the first tastes of the updated iteration of the map in tournament play.

The map has historically been overwhelmingly T-sided but Mousesports managed to post an eight-round streak during their half on the CT side. That hinted that the map may be a bit more even but Mouz closed out the game with another eight-round streak after changing sides, taking the series 2-1.

Now 3-0 in the Challengers Stage, Mousesports is the first team to advance to the Legends Stage. They were joined later in the day by fellow 3-0 team, North.

The Berlin Major has had some quizzical results so far with presumably weak Minor Championship teams knocking off some of the favorites to advance. Mouz entered as one of the most popular choices to go 3-0 in the Challengers Stage and have lived up to that reputation thus far.

G2 Esports doesn’t qualify quite yet but they are still in a good position moving forward. Now 2-1, they will play in a series against ForZe with the winner moving on.
