Mew2King opens up about his rocking, speaks on Asperger’s
Nov 5, 2020
Super Smash Bros. Melee pro Jason “Mew2King” Zimmerman isn’t afraid to open up about his personal life with fans.
Oftentimes, Mew2King makes videos that help players better understand competitive mechanics and difficult techniques in the games he plays, mostly in the Smash Bros. series. While helpful and held in high regard, some players can’t help but notice Mew2King’s back and forth swaying during his explanations.
After being asked about his swaying during streams and videos, Mew2King decided to discuss the subject publicly.
“I’ve been ‘rocking’ since I was an infant. It’s always been a part of me since my youngest memories,” Mew2King explained. “I don’t know why, but it’s something I’ve always done and probably will always do.”
I get this question very often so it’s easier to just answer publicly, but I’ve been “rocking” since I was an infant. It’s always been a part of me since my youngest memories. I don’t know why, but it’s something I’ve always done and probably always will do.

In a follow-up Twitter conversation, Mew2King said he wasn’t ashamed of his rocking, but just wanted everyone to understand that it’s something he doesn’t notice or do on purpose. He also noted that he doesn’t want to explain it “a hundred more times” in the future as he continues to make more content.
Mew2King has opened up about his Asperger syndrome in the past. On an episode of “Hot Juans” with Melee champion Juan “Hungrybox” DeBiedma, Mew2King casually noted that he has a legal caretaker named Greg. The Smash god said that Greg basically “saved his life,” offering him free rent and food and providing him with any assistance he needs.
“He’s the reason I got sponsors and got raises. Literally everything,” Mew2King said.
In the past, Mew2King also opened up to fans about a very rare medical condition he has. Aside from Asperger syndrome and depression, Mew2King also had a botched circumcision. This was something he had to address when the Smash community started accusing him of masturbating on stream.
“I was circumcised very badly as an infant to the point where it’s pretty much impossible, or extremely difficult, to feel pleasure, orgasm, or any of that stuff,” Mew2King said at the time.
Mew2King has continued to be a favorite in the Super Smash Bros. community because of his unwavering honesty and openness. He is always blunt and willing to say what’s on his mind. On top of his insane mechanical skills, this has made Mew2King a fixture in the world of Smash Bros. He may be relatable, but many people know they would never be able to compete with him on Battlefield.
does anyone else have this thing where they always wanna focus on positives but 1 negative thing makes them automatically focus on the negative(s) or am i just an outlier?
