Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater revealed as MGS3 remake
Konami has lifted the curtain on a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake in a hair-raising teaser set in wildlife.
On May 25, Konami announced that Metal Gear Solid is returning with cutting-edge graphics and 3D audio. The announcement was made through a short trailer that speaks to the jungle-esque theme of the game, featuring a naked snake.
Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater is a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, released in 2004. The original game was set in a jungle during the Cold War, in which snakes would hunt wildlife for survival. Metal Gear Solid 3 took players back to the 1980s. It was a prequel where players became Big Boss and went on exciting CIA missions. The new game follows the same themes as shown in the short trailer.
The teaser begins with ants swarming up on a dead frog when a bird swipes it away from their grip, flying far away from the greenery. To have its supper, the bird lands on a branch in a swamp. The scenery is breathtakingly serene until a massive snake pops out of the water, gulping down the dead frog.
Metal Gear Solid 3 remake looks promising
Clearly, the game is set on the same theme, so players won’t have to readjust to new additions. According to Konami, the whole idea was to retain the same gripping story and engrossing world but with new graphics. The delta sign in the title also signifies “difference without changing structure,” according to the developer.
“We are working hard to make Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater to be a faithful recreation of the original story and game design while evolving the gameplay with stunning visuals and a seamless user experience,” Metal Gear said in a statement.
At the end of the announcement, an intriguing screen surfaced, unveiling the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1 and solidifying the arrival of Metal Gear Solid, MGS2: Sons of Liberty, and MGS3: Snake Eater to the PlayStation 5 in the upcoming fall season.
Metal Gear Solid 3 remake launches for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
