Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the most popular game on the Nintendo Switch and it continues to come out with new tracks, racers, and other content. But even if you don’t want to pay for anything, you can still unlock a lot of content within Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with the right amount of in-game currency.

Here are all of the unlockables you can get by collecting coins and completing challenges.

All unlockable characters in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

There is actually only one unlockable character in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe right now: Gold Mario.

You can unlock Gold Mario by completing every cup in the 200cc Grand Prix. Once you do this, Metal Mario will turn to Gold Mario in the character select.

All other new characters have to be purchased as DLC.

Unlockable vehicle parts

You can get new vehicle parts by simply collecting coins while racing in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

After reaching 450 coins, you will get a new vehicle part every 30 coins you collect. Once you reach 1,500 coins, you’ll get a new vehicle part every 50 coins you collect. Once you reach 3,100 coins, you will then unlock a new vehicle part every 100 coins.

All of the vehicle parts are chosen at random so the order in which you get the new parts are not predictable.
