LEC partners with Prideletics to support The Trevor Project
The LEC is partnering up with Pridelectics to support The Trevor Project.
The European League of Legends tournament announced a partnership with apparel brand Prideletics. 10% of the proceeds from the esports pride t-shirt sales will go to The Trevor Project.
Riot Games partnered up with Prideletics back in June and it’s now expanding the collaboration all the way to Europe.
The League of Legends esports Twitter account shared
a series of pictures
featuring LEC casters, analysts, and hosts wearing the esports pride t-shirt that is now available for shipping in the United States and Europe.
During pride month, the LCS sold an exclusive pride pin and t-shirts. Team Liquid and Cloud9 followed suit with their own version of the pride pin.
The LEC and Prideletics rally for a good cause
Riot will continue with the partnership to support a very important cause, this time through the LEC. The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning young people.
Prideletics is an athletic apparel brand that supports the LGBT+ community with products “that everyone can wear with pride”. Prideletics promotes visibility in sports and is constantly working with different charities.
The esports pride t-shirt is available on Pridelectics’
site
for a starting price of $27.
Increasing inclusion in esports
Esports have a long way to go in terms of inclusion and equality, so it’s important to see developers like Riot making such an effort. These types of partnerships are opening the conversation and contribute to creating a safe space for minorities within the gaming community.
It’s not limited to League of Legends either, as the Overwatch League’s
Florida Mayhem showed its support for Equality Florida. The team donated 100% of the profits from the Overwatch League’s Team Pride sales and added $5 for every sold shirt.
Blizzard is working directly with The Trevor Project, and the Overwatch developer released an exclusive pride pin.
