Florida Mayhem celebrate pride month with special merch and charity
Florida Mayhem celebrate pride month with special merch and charity
The Florida Mayhem organization is embracing Pride Month and showing its support for the LGBT+ community.
June is pride month around the world and the Florida Mayhem decided to celebrate it like no other team in the Overwatch League.
Through Twitter, the team highlighted the importance of Miami as one of the most prominent LGBT communities in the world. Taking that into consideration, the team decided to show extra support to one of the biggest charities in the state of Florida.
“To us, Pride is more than just a month – it’s about showing your support whenever and wherever possible,” the team said.
Mayhem is donating 100% of the profits from the Overwatch League’s Team Pride shirt to Equality Florida. The team is also donating $5 for every shirt sold.
Earlier this month, Florida Mayhem streamer Annie took over Twitch’s front page to highlight The Trevor Project, a non-profit supporting LGBT youths. The team announced that they would be matching any donations made in support.
Annie joined Florida Mayhem back in 2018. She is a transgender woman with a passion for all things audio and gaming.
The celebration continues on during the Overwatch League, as Florida Mayhem players are wearing a Pride patch through Stage 3 of this year’s competition.
The organization closed the announcement with a heartfelt message to its fans.
“If you are an LGBTQIA+ fan of the Mayhem (or any Overwatch League team), please know that we support you 100%, and will always fight to make sure your rights and your place in our community are recognized and respected,” the Mayhem said.
The limited edition Overwatch League’s Team Pride shirts are now available on the official store.
