JDG is your 2023 LPL Summer Split champion
JDG is the 2023 LPL Summer Split Champion. The MSI champion has secured its third title of the year and is heading to Worlds, where it is hoping to get a fourth.
JDG is one step closer to making history and completing the grand slam. JDG could become the first team to win both regional seasons, MSI, and Worlds in the same year.
JDG defeated LNG Esports in a series that went the distance. JDG claim the first victory, and LNG won the following two games. At match point, LNG ran out of steam, allowing JDG to secure two wins and the title. The stars of the day were bot laner Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk and finals MVP Zhuo “knight” Ding.
JDG gets another chance at Worlds
The only trophy missing on JDG’s case is the Summoner’s Cup, and 2023 might be the year to get it. In recent years, JDG has solidified itself as the team to beat in the LPL. The addition of Ruler to the roster made JDG stronger, which we now know was possible.
In 2022, JDG was eliminated in the semifinals by T1. JDG returned to the LPL with a chip on its shoulder. In 2023, JDG wants the World Championship title, and it’s looking like it might be the year. All the pieces are falling into place with a new Worlds format and the best bot laner in the world on JDG’s roster.
The rest of the LPL representation is stacked with Bilibili Gaming and LNG. Weibo Gaming and EDward Gaming are still in the race to claim the fourth and final LPL seed at Worlds.
Before Worlds, three of the JDG players have another stop, the 2022 Asian Games. knight will be part of the China national team. Ruler, alongside Seo “Kanavi” Jin-hyeok will be representing South Korea. The 2022 Asian Games will run from September 24 through October 1.
