JD Gaming is the 2023 MSI champion after defeating Bilibili Gaming in the grand finals. This is the first international title for JDG in the organization’s history.

Ahead of every World Championship for the past couple of years, all eyes have been on JDG. This is a team with great prowess that seems to always be on the edge of greatness. At Worlds, JDG has fallen short on every occasion, much to fans’ disappointment. In 2023, the story is different, JDG is the 2023 MSI champion.

Seems like JDG found its missing piece in former World Champion Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk. The addition of Ruler gave JDG exactly what the team needed, a hyper carry the rest of the team can rally behind. Ruler has the experience and talent JDG needed in the bottom lane. The result? One domestic title and an MSI trophy.

Can JDG win Worlds in 2023?

MSI is just the beginning of the year. Once all the dust has settled, the teams will shift focus to the ultimate goal, Worlds. In the fans’ eyes, a Worlds title holds so much more significance than MSI. That is the reason why T1 gets so much praise for its three Worlds titles, but hardly anyone talks about RNG’s three MSI titles.

In 2023, the World Championship will be taking place in South Korea. LCK teams will be heading into the tournament with a chip on their shoulders, especially T1. Many believe this is the last chance for the T1 roster. Either they win Worlds, or the organization will be making changes. How can you upgrade the perfect roster? If anyone can figure it out, it’s the T1 coaching staff.

The Summer season is set to start soon, and the cycle begins all over again. JDG could complete the grand slam with two domestic and two international titles in the same year.
