Harry Potter fans can’t wait for Hogwarts Legacy to come out. Despite some
frustration with delays, gamers are excited to become immersed in the iconic wizarding world. Creating potions, playing Quidditch, exploring Hogwarts, and casting spells are a big part of being a wizard but developers have since admitted that Quidditch won’t actually be part of Hogwarts Legacy.
Fans have been unsurprisingly asking developers if they will be able to play Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy. The team has finally decided to address this question on the game’s FAQ page.
“Quidditch is not playable in Hogwarts Legacy. However, broom flight for traversal and broom race challenges are part of the game. Players can also fly brooms to explore new and familiar locations surrounding Hogwarts Castle,”
developers said.
While this isn’t good news for Harry Potter fans, there are other opportunities to make players feel immersed in Hogwarts. Players can tame, mount, and ride magical creatures in the game. They can also attend Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, and Potions classes. Players can learn to cast spells, grow magical plants, and brew potions.
Why isn’t Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy?
It’s currently unclear why Quidditch isn’t included in Hogwarts Legacy. While the game takes place in the 1800s, well before the popular books’ storylines, Quidditch has apparently been part of the wizarding world since 1050. The broomstick-based game has continued to grow and change from there.
Even without Quidditch, Hogwarts Legacy seems determined to provide experiences that leave players feeling like wizards attending Hogwarts. First, players can create their own character. They can then befriend other students and make choices that will impact their character while tackling a villainous force that threatens the wizarding world.
“While Hogwarts Legacy is not a direct adaptation of the books and films, the games are anchored in Wizarding World lore. Avalanche is creating a unique gaming experience that is inspired by the magical universe created by J.K. Rowling, in which players will find new and unexpected locations, characters and story elements,” developers said.
Hogwarts Legacy is currently set to come to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox on February 10, 2023.
