Deep Rock Galactic: couch co-op, split screen, crossplay explained
Deep Rock Galactic: couch co-op, split screen, crossplay explained
Deep Rock Galactic is a popular cooperative game in which space-faring dwarf miners delve into alien-filled caves, but is there Deep Rock Galactic couch co-op and crossplay?
Deep Rock Galactic is a cooperative first-person shooter where players are employees of the fictional Deep Rock Galactic mining corporation. With four different classes, players mine, build, scale, and fight their way through dangerous excursions into caves teeming with bug-like aliens. It has received a lot of praise for its enjoyable cooperative experience and group play, but does it have split-screen or crossplay?
Is there a Deep Rock Galactic couch co-op?
The simple and sad answer is no, there is not any way to play Deep Rock Galactic in classic couch co-op or split screen.
Lots of fans have said Deep Rock Galactic is the perfect game for couch co-op, but at the time of writing, it has no local co-op mode, and there are no announced plans to support any such efforts. If you were hoping to sprint through stylized space tunnels from the comfort of the same couch as your comrades, you’re out of luck.
Does Deep Rock Galactic support crossplay?
The answer to Deep Rock Galactic’s crossplay situation is somewhat more complicated than its couch co-op.
The game is available on Steam, the Xbox Store, Windows Store, and PlayStation. The PlayStation and Steam versions do not support crossplay with other platforms at all. If you have DRG on PlayStation or Steam, you aren’t able to play with anybody not on the same platform as you. The Windows Store and Xbox versions do, however, offer crossplay between each other, but not with PlayStation or Steam.
In short, if you and your friends are on Xbox and PC, and the PC players have purchased from the Windows store, you can play with each other. With any other combination of platforms and stores, you won’t be able to play together.
