More is becoming known about the next installment in the Street Fighter series, but one of the most important questions about the game is what platforms it will be on. In particular, will Street Fighter 6 be a PlayStation exclusive, or will it also come out on Xbox?

Traditionally speaking, the Street Fighter franchise has been platform-neutral in the last 30 years of console wars. Not every version of every Street Fighter made it to every console, but Sega, Nintendo, Sony, and Xbox consoles have all welcomed the series in one way or another.

That changed with Street Fighter V. While Street Fighter 4 wound up on everything from the Xbox 360 to the Nintendo 3DS, Street Fighter V was exclusively available on PlayStation 4 and PC. The big question now is whether that will be the case with Street Fighter 6 as well. Here’s what we know.

Street Fighter 6 will not be a PlayStation exclusive

Xbox fans can rejoice, because Street Fighter 6 will not be exclusive to PlayStation consoles.

The first proper trailer for Street Fighter 6 debuted during PlayStation’s State of Play event in June 2022. The trailer ended with the SF6 logo, PlayStation 4 and 5 logos, and an ominous “coming 2023.” While this may have been done to imply that the game would be exclusive to PlayStation consoles, that isn’t actually going to be the case.

The cut released on Capcom’s official social media channels has a very different ending. The trailer reveals that Street Fighter 6 is coming out on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. While Nintendo Switch fans are being left out of the action, the release of SF6 will be much larger than what the State of Play trailer suggests.

Is Street Fighter 6 coming out on Xbox?

Street Fighter 6 will come out on the Xbox Series X/S platform, but not on Xbox One.

While PlayStation gamers who can’t quite track down a PS5 will be able to pick the game up on PS4, Xbox fans will have to move onto the next generation. This is still good news for Xbox fans, considering Street Fighter V didn’t even get an Xbox release. They’ll be able to enjoy all the hard-hitting action and new characters alongside fellow PC and PlayStation users.
