Ash Ketchum is officially the number one Pokémon trainer, after becoming the Pokémon World Champion in the Pokémon World Coronation Series.

In 1997, Ash Ketchum, a 10-year-old from Pallet Town in the Kanto Region, embarked on a journey to become a Pokémon Master. Twenty five years later, Ash achieved his dream at the Pokémon World Coronation Series when he defeated Leon for the title of World Champion.

When did Ash become a World Champion?

The Pokémon World Coronation Series is a global event with participants from all regions. Including some of the strongest trainers like Cynthia, Steven, and Lance. Ash Ketchum earned the title of World Champion after an intense battle against Leon.

This victory is the culmination of an epic journey like no other. The four-episode arc had fans at the edge of their seat and the final battle brought the audience back to the early Pokémon days.

Ash’s Pikachu, his loyal companion since day one, bravely took on Leon’s Charizard in a battle for the ages. When it was looking like a defeat, Pikachu is visited by all previous Pokémon in Ash’s team, including the season one iconic squad. In this dream-like state, Ash’s Charizard, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Pidgeotto, and Butterfree encourage Pikachu to stand up and keep fighting

The result is one of the most iconic scenes in anime. In his victory, Ash is surrounded by his long-time friends Brock, Misty, and Dawn.

Is the Pokémon anime still going?

Ash’s victory in the Pokémon World Coronation Series left fans wondering if it means the end of Pokémon. The anime has been running since 1997 with 25 seasons and over 1,200 episodes. Ash is finally Pokémon World Champion, so, what else is there for him to achieve?

There is no official confirmation about what will happen to the show after this season. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the first installment in the ninth generation of games, will be released on November 18. The game takes place in the Paldea region, a new region that Ash is yet to explore.

Pokémon has yet to confirm if Ash and company will travel to Paldea in the future.
