Is Apex Legends getting a new legend in Season 18?
Apex Legends Season 18 is coming right in the heat of the summer on August 8, but it may not be as scorching as players were hoping. A trusted leaker is now saying that there is likely no new legend in Season 18.
Over the past few weeks, the Apex Legends community has been getting word from leakers that a major Revenant rework is part of an upcoming season. Dataminers discovered the term “Revenant Reborn” inside the game files, but the codename was removed by Respawn Entertainment.
According to Osvaldatore, Season 18 may very well be when we get the new Revenant. But in return, we won’t see a new legend.
Why is there no new legend in Season 18?
Revenant was introduced to Apex Legends with a badass look and a gritty backstory to match. But the villain failed to deliver in-game, struggling to fit into the meta thanks to an underwhelming kit.
Developers have been working on an entirely new Revenant ever since, with there even being rumors of an entire kit rework along with a brand-new appearance. It was once rumored that Revenant would get an ultimate that forces a targeted enemy to join him in a 1v1 duel that can’t be interfered with.
Dataminer HYPERMYST even found a Mythic-tier skin — still in the works — that looks to be tied to a relaunch bundle or Revenant-themed event.
With so much focus on Revenant’s total rework, it’s possible that developers are forgoing an entirely new legend in Season 18. But some in the leaking community are uncertain, stating that Apex Legends may not be able to get away without a new legend if they want to retain interest.
For now, Apex Legends players will have to wait and see what Respawn Entertainment has planned for the upcoming season. Nothing is confirmed so far.
