Is a new AMC Nicole Kidman commercial in the works?

Nicole AMC

If you’re a movie buff, you’ve probably heard the line “heartbreak feels good in a place like this” all over social media. This line is from a monologue by Nicole Kidman that is played before every film at AMC theaters. It has become iconic in a traditional and satirical sense, leading many to wonder if a new Nicole Kidman monologue is in the works.

AMC has become one of the largest movie theater chains after the global health crisis subsided, paving the way with the AMC A-List and now an AMC credit card that gives points towards free popcorn. But AMC is probably most well known for the dramatic Nicole Kidman speech that plays before every film.

We personally have it memorized.

But moviegoers are wondering if a new monologue will ever grace the big screen.

AMC CEO opens up about new Nicole Kidman AMC speech

In an interview with Variety, AMC CEO Adam Aron revealed some interesting insight into the future of AMC monologues.

According to Aron, there will be a new Kidman monologue for AMC movie-goers later this year or next year. The reason it’s taking so long? Aron is hoping it will live up to the expectations of fanatic movie fans who have to see it every week.

“It’s being decided right now,” Aron said. “I’m not sure when we’re going to do it — this year or next year. One version has been written, but whether that’s the one we make or not, I don’t know. We’ll all see it together. We’ll try to live up to your expectations when the time comes.”

Aron also applauded the SNL parody of Kidman’s infamous monologue, stating that it was “wonderful” despite their commercial being better than the parody version. Either way, though, it was a great way to get exposure for AMC.

He continued: “I don’t know if you were watching the Oscars, but the first gag in Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue was to Nicole Kidman, about how she’d been released from an AMC movie theater. That’s the highest compliment we can be paid. That says our commercial hit the American zeitgeist.”

For now, AMC is still in touch with Kidman and she has even been dubbed the First Lady of AMC. The theater chain is now a big sponsor of the American Film Institute’s gala thanks to its connection with the A-list celebrity.

“Becoming associated with her has been one of the smartest marketing decisions that I’ve been a part of for the last 40 years,” Aron admitted.
