Fornite developer and publisher Epic Games has joined forces with Walt Disney Studios to give Fortnite fans a preview of the upcoming film Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.

The Fortnite & Star Wars crossover event began November 14 during which the iconic Stormtrooper costume was added to Fortnite’s in-game store in celebration of the launch of the recent video game Jedi: Fallen Order. It turns out that Disney and Epic had one more surprise up their sleeves for fans. A never-before-seen clip of The Rise of Skywalker will be previewed at Risky Reels and will be presented by the director of the film J.J. Abrams on December 14 at 2pm EST.

How to watch the Star Wars premiere in Fortnite

You’ll first need to get into a match in order to join the viewing party. Epic has released special game modes for social events like this in the past, and they are likely to do the same this time.

After joining a match, head on over to the Risky Reels location on Fortnite’s map. The doors to the event open at 1:30pm ET, but be sure to arrive early as the servers will probably be getting hit hard around that time.

Once you’ve arrived, find a good view for yourself and prepare for the premiere to begin.

The exclusive movie clip may not be the only Star Wars-themed gift players will be receiving during the event. A Twitter user has mined a 3D model of a Star Wars TIE fighter from Fortnite’s game files, speaking to the potential of more in-game goods to come in the future.

The purpose of the Imperial military spacecraft is currently unknown, but Risky Reels has been mysteriously refurbished recently with sci-fi landing platforms. Perhaps a TIE fighter will land at the premiere, and J.J. Abrams will step out of the cockpit to make his grand appearance before presenting the clip. Or maybe Epic will introduce a brand new game mode featuring the flying vehicles after the viewing party has concluded. The possibilities are endless for Star Wars and Fortnite fans alike, and there looks to be a lot to get excited about for both.

Either way, Star Wars fans will certainly want to tune in for all of the excitement this Saturday.
