How to fix new CSGO bug that randomly lowers mouse sensitivity
Is your sensitivity randomly dropping mid-game? Fret not, your mouse is not broken. It’s just the latest Counter-Strike: Global Offensive bug that is lowering down players’ mouse sensitivity without warning.
CSGO players have been experiencing a unique bug in-game that changes their sensitivity to its lowest value. The glitch occurs randomly in the middle of a game, which is causing frustration among competitive players. Many Steam users have reported that their sensitivity lowers down in other games as well.
It’s not just casual players who’ve encountered the bug either, as multiple CSGO professionals took to Twitter and shared the bug in hopes of finding a fix. CSGO pros Ricky “floppy” Kemery and NiP’s Fredrik “REZ” Sterner dealt with sensitivity bug in-game.

Random CSGO sensitivity bug has a fix
The glitch soon gained traction, prompting the players to experiment with it in search of a fix. Various players claimed that sensitivity goes down a point each time you open Steam overlay (shift+tab), while others have experienced it seemingly out of nowhere. CSGO players reported that the Steam beta might be triggering the bug, and opting out of it may resolve the issue.
A temporary fix will enable you to play the game without any hindrance. Try this method to fix the sensitivity bug in CSGO.
- Go to steam settings on the top left corner
- In the “Account” section, locate beta participation
- Select “NONE” to opt-out all Steam beta programs
Once you’ve turned off the beta, you should be able to play the game without any such glitch. However, it’s best to turn off the Steam overlay as well before hitting play.
- Go to steam client and navigate steam settings
- Click on the in-game tab
- Un-check the “enable steam overlay while in-game”
This temporary fix should resolve the issue for now until Valve rolls out a more permanent solution. While CSGO’s official handle claims to have fixed the problem in a new client update, various players complain that the bug persists.
We believe to have fixed this with a client update. Restart Steam and you should no longer experience this.

NiP’s Hampus “hampus” Poser prompted Valve to see to the matter as his sensitivity continues to drop mid-game even after client update. It’s unsure whether a reliable fix has been delivered or not, but players can continue their ranked grind by employing the method mentioned above.
