How to catch and use Sirfetch'd in Pokemon GO

Pokemon GO has a number of fun regional variants available for players to add to their lineups, and Sirfetch’d is one of the best.

The Galarian Pokemon was made available in Pokemon GO last year and stands out from the pack as a pure fighting type with great move coverage. On top of that is a high CP ceiling that makes Sirfetch’d viable in raids, PVP battling, and fights with Team Go Rocket grunts.

The regional variations of Farfetch’d and the unique means of evolving the Pokemon has made it so that not everyone knows how to obtain and use the Pokemon. Here’s how to add Sirfetch’d to your party, and the best way to use it.

Can Farfetch’d evolve?

Regular Farfetch’d from the Kanto region cannot evolve. Galarian Farfetch’d can evolve into Sirfetch’d under certain conditions.

Kantonian Farfetch’d is one of the few generation-one Pokemon that has not had an evolved form or baby form added to the game over time. Pokemon such as Jynx and Snorlax had baby forms added, and Onyx and Scyther had evolutions added, but Farfetch’d has had no such luck.

Galarian regional variants are different from those seen in Alola, as they can evolve into entirely new Pokemon. Though Farfetch’d finally got an evolution, Kanto’s Farfetch’d will likely forever be stuck as one of the weakest fully evolved Pokemon in the franchise.

What is the easiest way to get Sirfetch’d?

In Pokemon GO, Galarian Farfetch’d can be evolved into Sirfetch’d by setting it as a buddy Pokemon, hitting 10 excellent throws, then giving it 50 Farfetch’d candy.

The Pokemon GO method for evolving Farfetch’d pays homage to the Pokemon Sword and Shield method. Sirfetch’d can be acquired in Pokemon Sword and Shield by landing three critical hits in the same battle. The easiest way to do this is by teaching Galarian Farfetch’d Rest and Snore, then spamming snores. Having a Leek as a held item increases the crit rate for the Pokemon.

Galarian Farfetch’d evolves in Pokemon GO in a similar way, but with less randomness. Instead of hitting random crits, players need to nail 10 excellent throws. They don’t all have to be in a row, so players don’t need to stress too much over it. The best way of pulling it off is to simply slow down, time the throws, and hit the excellent throws when and where possible.

Is Sirfetch’d good in Pokemon GO?

Sirfetch’d is a good fighting type option in Pokemon GO.

Sirfetch’d’s CP tops out at 3,375 at level 50, higher than the likes of Lucario and Hariyama, and comparable to Machamp. It doesn’t have the long list of possible moves that Machamp enjoys, but has access to Close Combat, Night Slash, Brave Bird, and Leaf Blade. Counter is the definitive fast move for Sirfetch’d, and each charge move has its uses.

Though it’s somewhat difficult to build up the Pokemon at this point, those who do will be rewarded with a solid Pokemon for all sorts of battling. The best move combination is likely Counter and Leaf Blade, but those who can gather up the candies to teach two charge moves will be rewarded with a versatile threat.
