Pokemon Legends: Arceus may not be getting DLC anytime soon, but the addition of new mass outbreaks should keep fans interested for a while longer.

During the Pokemon Day event, The Pokemon Company officially revealed a massive update to the latest installment in the series. Pokemon Legends: Arceus is getting updated to version 1.1.0, entitled “Daybreak.”

The update is a significant change of pace from Game Freak and Pokemon games in general. Significant expansions to the content offerings have exclusively been gated behind paywalls, usually in the form of new game releases or with DLC in the most recent releases.

That changes here. Pokemon Legends: Arceus is giving players a sizable chunk of new content with the free Daybreak update including new story content and new requests. The biggest part is an overhaul of the mass outbreak mechanic.

What are massive mass outbreaks in Pokemon Legends: Arceus’ Daybreak update?

Massive mass outbreaks are when several mass outbreaks occur on the same map at once.

What appear to be several mass outbreaks will occur at the same time, accompanied by a rainstorm. All of the mass outbreaks will disappear when the storm ends. Players will not know what the outbreaks include until they visit them.

Massive mass outbreaks can include Pokemon from other maps as well as Pokemon that can’t normally be caught in the wild. They can also include different Pokemon from within the same evolutionary line. For example, a Stantler outbreak has a chance to include one or more Wyrdeer.

This gives shiny hunters the opportunity to catch a variety of options in one swoop. Though it may not be as reliable as reloading a save to farm the same outbreak, it can give players the chance to pick up more shinies faster, with a chance of finding an outbreak for a desirable Pokemon.

How to get massive mass outbreaks

Players can start getting into massive mass outbreaks after beating the game and speaking with Mai in the Obsidian Fieldlands. She can be found in the Heights Camp standing along the perimeter.

Mai and Munchlax lead players to massive mass outbreaks
Mai and Munchlax have an awkward moment.

After speaking with Mai, she’ll discuss erratic behavior by her Munchlax. This kicks off a new request named “A New Anomaly.” The action begins on Ramanas Island with a Hisuian Zorua mini-outbreak on the southern tip of Ramanas Island. From there, speak to Cyllene in Jubilife Village.

This will complete the A New Anomaly request and will relocate Mai to Jubilife Village. You can then speak with her to start another request. A massive mass outbreak will begin as part of the request, but it can only be completed if players can clear multiple outbreaks during the massive one.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus’ Daybreak update lets players catch more alphas, Noble Pokemon

Massive mass outbreaks gives players a chance of outbreaks made up of alpha Pokemon and Noble Pokemon.

Not only will Pokemon start appearing in other areas they don’t normally appear in, wild Noble Pokemon will start appearing in these outbreaks as well. Noble Pokemon previously were only available by evolution, meaning players have the chance to quickly fill out their Pokedex.

All shiny Pokémon available in Pokémon GO in 2026 Zachary Roberts Getting a shiny Pokémon in Pokémon GO is an absolute treat. At 1/512 base odds, it's much more likely than in a mainline game, where the odds are 1/4096. If you're interested ...
