Hogwarts Legacy clears pre-order, exclusive content confusion
Harry Potter fans finally got some answers regarding Hogwarts Legacy pre-order bonuses and what exclusive content they contain.
Hogwarts Legacy was announced years ago but has been dealing with ongoing delays since, leaving fans of the franchise feeling frustrated. After a year and a half of confusion over its release, develop Avalanche Software stated that the release date is February 10, 2023. Developers are now trying to clarify the different editions of the game leading up to its launch early next year.
What are the PlayStation exclusives for Hogwarts Legacy?
On August 26, developers took to the game’s official Twitter account to clear up confusion on the game’s pre-order rollout, exclusive content, and the various editions of Hogwarts Legacy, apologizing for the “frustration” over the confusion.
The Collector’s Edition will be going live on a “rolling basis” as developers receive copies. The links to retailers selling the Collector’s Edition will be constantly updated here. Then developers explained the rewards and bonuses for ordering various versions of the game.
Pre-ordering any version of Hogwarts Legacy on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 will come with the Felix Felicis Potion Recipe. This includes the standard, deluxe, digital deluxe, and collector’s edition. All PlayStation editions will also come with the Exclusive Quest, which doesn’t require a pre-order. More Sony exclusives will be announced soon.
Any player with the standard version of Hogwarts Legacy will have the option to purchase the Dark Arts Pack in-game separately at launch. There are no other items for purchase within the game. Developers noted that there are “no microtransactions” in the Hogwarts Legacy.
The Exclusive Quest has been a source of confusion in the past, with some players ridiculing developers for not making the nature of this PlayStation-exclusive content more clear. At the time of its initial reveal, gamers couldn’t tell if the Exclusive Quest was only for PlayStation and weren’t sure if they had to pre-order a certain version of the game to unlock it.
“Again, we’d like to reiterate that we understand the frustrations around the experience for the Community yesterday. Thank you for your continued excitement and passion for Hogwarts Legacy,” developers said.
With so many editions of the game, it’s understandable that Harry Potter fans have been confused about all of the vague information coming out sporadically concerning pre-orders and exclusive content. Still, many fans of the wizarding world are not able to resist pre-ordering such a promising open-world game set in the iconic Hogwarts location.
