Pokemon Unite has taken the gaming world by storm, combining the competitiveness of League of Legends with the popularity of Pokemon. But just a few weeks since its official launch on the Nintendo Switch, players are already clamoring for more playable characters.

Right now, Pokemon fans are buzzing about Blastoise coming to the game. The Gen 1 water starter is conspicuously missing from the roster despite being one of the most iconic Pokemon of all. Charizard, Venasaur, and Pikachu are already duking it out on Remoat Island, so where is Blastoise? Well, Blastoise is most likely coming sooner than fans think.

Pokemon Unite Blastoise release date

In June, the official Pokemon Unite Twitter page shared that Blastoise, Gardevoir, and other popular Pokemon were coming to the Pokemon MOBA. But fans were disappointed to hear they wouldn’t be available on the day of the game’s launch.

Blastoise, Gardevoir, and other Pokémon also can’t wait to join you on Aeos Island!

They won’t be battle-ready at launch, so stay tuned for more details on when they’ll arrive following the release of #PokemonUNITE on Nintendo Switch! pic.twitter.com/05szCFP3pK

Still, Gardevoir was released only a week after Pokemon Unite officially launched. Blastoise will most likely not be far off if Pokemon Unite continues to release frequent patches. Right now, fans are predicting August 16 or August 25, meaning another update within a month of the last one.

This means that Squirtle and Wartortle will also join Pokemon Unite, as players have gone through the complete evolutionary lines of other starter Pokemon including Charizard, Greninja, and Cinderace.

Pokemon Unite Blastoise moveset

There are currently no known leaks involving Blastoise’s moveset but fans got a few hints in the official Pokemon Unite trailers, including the very first one. Fans who have studied these trailers have speculated that Blastoise’s attacks will include Water Gun, Surf, and Rapid Spin, although the details of these moves are currently unknown.

Pokemon Unite Blastoise items and build

Blastoise was available for play during the Pokemon Unite beta, with players having the best success using defensive items such as Rocky Helmet, Assault Vest, Aeos Cookie, Score Shield, Buddy Barrier, Leftovers, and Focus Band. However, it’s unknown whether the Blastoise that was available during the beta will be the one that gets released in the full version of Pokemon Unite as the Pokemon could technically receive a complete overhaul

Perhaps the most anticipated part of Blastoise’s inclusion in Pokemon Unite is a skin players discovered during the beta. This desirable skin has Blastoise in a green vest, complete with a pocket square, and boater hat. This classy look is addictingly hilarious and dapper, giving Blastoise an entirely new appearance.

For now, it’s unclear exactly when Blastoise is coming to Pokemon Unite but it’s most likely soon. Until then, fans will have to keep daydreaming of Blastoise in his hat.
