For the first time in years, Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg played an official game without Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund.

Ninjas in Pyjamas has played its first game of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive following the deactivation of GeT_RiGhT. The longtime duo discussed this on Twitter, and seemed to get a bit emotional in the process.

“10.5 years [playing with] with f0rest. Going to be very special to see him play his first game without me in such a long time,” Get_RiGhT tweeted. “Good luck my friend.”

“Felt really weird not hearing your voice while playing,” f0rest replied after the game.

Just like when Get_RiGhT’s departure from NiP was first announced, fans took the opportunity to share their support, wish him luck in the future, and express frustration with him not being on the team anymore.

Get_RiGhT and f0rest’s CSGO bromance in NiP lasted for over 10 years

Get_RiGhT and f0rest started playing together in January 2009 when Get_RiGhT joined Fnatic’s Counter-Strike 1.6 roster. The two spent nearly two years there before splitting off for SK Gaming. When Global Offensive launched, the pair joined Ninjas in Pyjamas’ inaugural roster in 2012.

In June, NiP shared that it was looking to replace Get_RiGhT on the roster. Although he was offered a different position within the organization, he stepped down from NiP in September and has repeatedly stated that he has no plans to retire from competitive play.

On October 1, NiP played its first match of CSGO without him on the active roster. The team took on Mousesports at DreamHack Masters Malmö 2019, which served as the debut event for Simon “twist” Eliasson, who replaced Get_RiGhT after joining from Fnatic. Though the decision to part ways with the veteran remains a controversial one, the early outlook is good for the team.

NiP made its way through the group stage at DreamHack Masters Malmö by taking wins over Mousesports and Grayhound Gaming. It lost to Natus Vincere, but still managed to qualify for the playoffs. NiP will next face off against Fnatic in the quarterfinals.
