FlameZ shows air guitar skills after insane IEM Summer clutch
After securing a big win over Evil Geniuses at IEM Summer, OG’s Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen and Shahar “flameZ” Shushan shared a strange celebration.
OG’s CSGO squad earned a spot at the $250,000 Intel Extreme Masters Summer through the European qualifier. After defeating Team Spirit and Heroic in the group stage, the pan-European team needed to defeat Evil Geniuses for a semifinals start.
After both teams won their map picks, the series went down to Inferno. OG was definitely prepared for the map. A 10-5 CT score led to a closing opportunity on round 21. Evil Geniuses had successfully retaken the site, but that didn’t stop Alekisb from storming in from banana.
A blind spray through the smoke gave way to a final headshot with less than one second remaining. A two-on-one clutch with just six health remaining was worth a celebration.
Aleksib’s celebratory gesture could be related to a popular Finnish ice hockey move. The “juti pumppu,” as it is known in Finland, is associated with retired professional player and commentator Timo Jutila. Entry fragger FlameZ promptly joined his energetic teammate, though he might have misinterpreted the gesture as something else. Viewers could spot his hands near Aleksib after he stood up.
FlameZ is the newest member of OG’s CSGO roster. He joined in April to replace Nathan “NBK-” Schmitt as the squad’s designated entry fragger. He totaled an impressive 74 kills and 42 deaths against Evil Geniuses.
OG’s current roster looks like this:
- Mateusz “mantuu” Wilczewski
- Valdemar “valde” Vangså
- Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen
- Shahar “flameZ” Shushan
- Nikolaj “niko” Kristensen
OG’s excellent group stage performance has guaranteed a top-four finish. They’ll face the winner of Team Vitality versus Virtus.pro for a spot in the event’s grand finals. The Intel Extreme Masters Season XVI Summer playoffs begin on June 11 at 9:45 CT.
