Does The Little Mermaid have post-credits scenes?

The Little Mermaid, starring Halle Bailey, is on its to becoming the most successful live-action by Disney. If you’re planning on going to the movies soon, you might be wondering, does The Little Mermaid Have Post-Credits Scenes?

Viewers have grown accustomed to post-credits scenes. This is a vehicle first used by Marvel to drop Easter eggs about upcoming projects and has become a common practice. Almost every major franchise has one post-credit scene.

The Little Mermaid is produced by Walt Disney Pictures, a subsidiary of Walt Disney Studios, which owns Lucasfilm and Marvel Studios. Despite being under the same ownership, Disney movies don’t follow the same formula as Marvel movies.

The Little Mermaid does not have post-credits scenes in the current version. A future special edition with deleted scenes and other additional content.

Will there be The Little Mermaid 2?

A post-credits scene is an indication of a sequel being in the works. The lack of a post-credits scene doesn’t mean there won’t be a sequel to The Little Mermaid.

The animated version of the movie had a sequel that was released directly to video in 2000. The movie follows the story of Melody, Ariel, and Eric’s only daughter, a princess that wishes to go into the sea. This movie introduces new characters like Melody and Morgana, Ursula’s sister, who wants to avenge her sister.

It is unclear if the live-action movie will have a sequel and what the plot could be. The Little Mermaid deviated from the original movie in some key moments, developing the relationship between Ariel and Eric better. If there was a sequel, it could take the story in a completely different direction before exploring their life as parents. Fans are asking for a sequel, mainly because they enjoy the on-screen chemistry between Bailey and Jonah Hauer-King, who plays Eric.
