GTA 6 rumor mill is buzzing with a jaw-dropping $150 price tag, but thankfully, it’s just a rumor until Rockstar confirms or denies it.

Rockstar’s next installment in the Grand Theft Auto series has reportedly been under development for over eight years. Whatever Rockstar has been cooking, the GTA whisper network claims, would cost a whopping $150. Here’s what fueled the rumor.

Data miners and leakers suggest that Rockstar has invested a substantial budget into GTA 6. A leaked screenshot purports that over USD 2 billion has been allocated to developing the upcoming GTA installment, solidifying its status as one of the most expensive games in history.

This leak hit the web in September 2022 but is now making the rounds in the wider GTA community, which believes Rockstar would try to make back the budget quickly by charging an excessive amount, maybe even $150.

Will GTA 6 cost $150?

It’s not entirely far-fetched for GTA 6 to have a price tag of $150. In 2023, many MMOs and RPGs are priced at $79.99 for the base version alone. So, having a base version under $100 and a deluxe edition at $150 wouldn’t be an unusual occurrence.

The rumored $150 price tag is likely for the Deluxe version, and even that hasn’t been confirmed by Riot. Still, part of the community is enraged over the price tag, while others believe it’s fair considering the budget. Rockstar has dedicated over 8 years to the development of this game, and if the rumors regarding an extravagant $2 billion budget are accurate, a $150 price tag doesn’t seem out of the ordinary.

Whether GTA 6 ends up being priced at $150 or not, Rockstar should have no trouble recouping their investment, especially given the immense popularity of GTA 5. The recent leaks and drama have further added to the hype around the game, making it one of the most hotly anticipated action-adventure games of the decade.
